The Ceremony Lasted Four Minutes | Newburyport, MA Wedding
Sarah and Ben met in college four years ago. Ben was two years older than Sarah and after he graduated, he would make the two hour drive out to see her every weekend. Now, a few years removed from college they decided to get married...a month after getting engaged! They knew they didn't want a traditional wedding, so why spend the traditional year or two planning it? Sarah and Ben decided to have a relaxed ceremony and reception that fit their personalities perfectly.
We started off the day with portraits in the park down the street from Ben's parent's house. The park was full of lush greenery, beautiful flowers, a scenic bridge, and even an old tower!
All the guests arrived at the park and Ben and Sarah greeted each one with a warm hug.
Everyone headed over to the ceremony area in front of one of the park's monuments.
There was no formal walk down the aisle, no bridal party or groomsmen, no flower girl or ring bearer. Instead, they simply made their way to the base of the monument and Ben's brother began the ceremony.
Hand in hand, Ben and Sarah promised to love and stand by each other for the rest of their lives. Sarah's biggest worry was messing up and saying, "until we die," instead. Luckily, she made it through just fine.
It was a beautiful ceremony. Ben and Sarah only had eyes for each other, and the crowd was full of happy faces, and a few teary eyes.
The ceremony only lasted about 4 minutes, but what it lacked in length, it made up for in heart. I loved the non-traditional style. It was refreshing and perfectly suited to them.
Afterwards, everyone made their way back to the house for cocktail hour. We stopped to take a few portraits in front of Ben's parent's historic house.
Then, the party began!
Dinner was served (it was all delicious), and friends and family made loving speeches toasting the new couple and sharing how they both have made such positive impacts on everyone's lives.
There was laughter and tears and a whole lot of love.
Once dinner was done, it was time for games!
Sarah and Ben had lawn games set up in the backyard, ping pong in the driveway, and plenty of delicious cocktails. Their friends all had a blast blowing up giant bowling pins, taking pictures, and celebrating the special day.
We ended the night with one last set of portraits. I love when a couple is open to taking pictures throughout the day. Sarah and Ben were so excited about getting married, they were more than happy to be photographed all day long.
I'm so glad I was able to be a part of their day. Every one of their friends and family was absolutely lovely. Being a smaller wedding, I was able to interact with a few of the guests and they were all so kind and caring, making sure I got water and food (the butternut squash ravioli was amaaazzzing). Congratulations to Ben and Sarah!
