Allie and Pat are two of the sweetest, nicest, funniest people I have ever met. I've known Allie for years and was so honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding.
Allie and Pat met years ago at a charity golf tournament, where they were set up by my uncle. Pat's first attempt at asking Allie out was a bust, but he persisted and she agreed to go out with him. It wasn't long before they realized they had a good thing going on.
Two years ago Pat proposed and they began the wedding planning process, all while building Pat's new greenhouse business, Buzz + Thrive.
We started off the day at Polished Salon with all the bridesmaids. Hairdressers, Samantha Ewing and Sam N, did a beautiful job on all of the ladies hair.
Intricate braids and flowing curls created a modern romantic style.
Allie's friend brought a beautiful bouquet of hand picked flowers that were the perfect spot to showcase her sparkling ring.
After the salon, we headed over to Buzz + Thrive, Pat's greenhouse. Pat started Buzz + Thrive two years ago and Allie has supported him in every step of the process. It was the perfect place for their first look photos. Allie wore a stunning 1940's style dress from ModCloth and she took Pat's breath away.
Once the first look portraits were done, we headed to Pat's parent's house to get ready for the ceremony.
When I heard they were doing a backyard wedding, I expected it to be a small, low-key event, but it turned out to be a big wedding with all the stops. Not only did the backyard have a beautiful sunken green with a gazebo and a fountain, they also brought in tents, American and Brazilian cuisine, a dance floor, and the nicest portable restrooms I've ever seen.
Allie and Pat were both beaming! It was so beautiful to watch their faces light up when they saw each other.
Pat's dad was the officiant, and he made sure to get in a few embarrassing stories. The whole crowd was roaring with laughter.
The ceremony was a beautiful event to be seen. Surrounded by hundreds? (I'm terrible at guessing the size of crowds) of their friends and family, they promised to support and love each other for the rest of their lives.
They wrote their own vows that were the perfect mix of emotion and lightheartedness. At one point Allie started to tear up. Pat reached into his pocket and gave her a tissue just as she got to the part about them being a perfect team. It melted my heart.
After the ceremony, cocktail hour was full of delicious treats from Comeketo Restaurant. They made the dinner as well and everything was fabulous!
Dinner was followed by dancing, and boy did they tear up the dance floor! Almost every guest came out to bust a move.
Pat's grandfather passed away a few years ago. His nickname was Buzz. This was the inspiration behind Buzz + Thrive.
Pat's uncle wore these amazing honeycomb Converse in honor of Buzz. It was such a sweet touch!
About halfway through the night, Allie had a surprise planned for Pat...it was a flash mob! Pat was clearly taken aback, but he knew she had something up her sleeve.
All the women at the wedding were in on the secret. I believe a video explaining the choreography had been sent around for everyone to prepare. Signals went around the dance floor as the band prepped the music. Bruno Mars' Marry You was the song of choice.
The dance started with a hype tunnel and turned into a gaggle of women surrounding Pat. Each time the line "I think I wanna marry you" came on, they would all kneel down in perfect sync miming a proposal.
The day was filled to the brim with love and laughter. I don't think Allie or Pat stopped smiling the entire night. To top it all off, the wedding concluded with an ice cream truck pulling in to the driveway, with all of the classic treats.
I heard numerous guests declare it the most fun wedding they had ever been to and it was apparent on people's faces that they were all basking in the love.
Congratulations to Pat and Allie! I am so happy for you both!
