I am so so excited to share this shoot with you! This has been in the works for months. I started planning it with Trisha of Vintage Prairie Home the day after I left my day job.
It was a crazy time for me and I was surprised Trisha still wanted to do a shoot with me after that meeting because my brain was mush and I could barely form a sentence. Luckily, she was able to overlook my frazzled state and we were able to put together this amazing shoot.
After the initial meeting, we decided to do a bohemian wedding shoot. Trisha would style the whole thing and I would photograph it. I began brainstorming what other vendors I wanted to work with. I was so lucky to have an amazing team of insanely talented people come on board.
My friends Nick and Cait played the bride and groom. Their wedding was almost exactly a year ago, so this was like an anniversary shoot for them. Cait's hair was done by Shannon Hughes. She is such an artist with hair. She colored my hair this week and I was blown away by how much thought and creativity she puts into her work.
For the rings, I immediately knew I wanted to work with The Cyprus Cabinet. They are the sweetest mother and daughter team who create beautiful jewelry using raw gemstones and copper settings.
The dress, Essence of Australia D2121, was provided by the lovely Elizabeth Ann's Bridal. I told them my vision and they chose the perfect gown for the shoot. I was blown away when I went to pick it up, and their whole team was so sweet and wonderful to work with. I could tell as soon as I walked into the salon that you would have a special experience shopping for a wedding or prom dress there.
I was blown away by how kind and generous everyone was. It all came together, even the weather. It was raining when we first got to the Quabbin Reservoir, but it stopped about twenty minutes later, leaving us just enough daylight to get in all the pictures.
Herkimer diamond ring via The Cyprus Cabinet. This is actually a two ring set and I think it is so cool. It's such a fun, bohemian twist on the traditional diamond engagement and band set.
I put together a little vlog to go along with the shoot:
How amazing is this couch set from Vintage Prairie Home? Trisha did such an amazing job executing the random ideas I threw at her.
I think the giant artichoke really made the bouquet 😂.
HOW CUTE ARE THEY?
The genuine emotion in this picture makes is one of my favorites, despite most of Cait's face being cut off.
I spent most of the morning of the shoot finagling the bouquet and flower crown out of the random florals I had pulled together. It took way longer than I expected, but I was really happy with how they came out.
I love how the grass lifts the edge of the dress, making it look like seafoam rushing towards the shore.
Trisha put together this gorgeous sweetheart table and I couldn't love it more. She perfectly mixed so many vintage pieces and the chippy white farm table made for the perfect centerpiece.
The Essence of Australia dress had so much beautiful detailing, from the lace trails, to delicate beading, to the crystal buttons enclosing the back.
This was one of the first photos we took. We were taking shelter from the rain inside Quabbin Tower. I had really low expectations for these shots because I was so set on the outdoor backdrop, but this turned out to be one of my favorites. Nick and Cait look so sweet and the dark background makes the front lighting so beautiful.
I don't remember what Cait and Nick were laughing about at this point, but it was so adorable.
Thank you so much to everyone that made this shoot possible!
