Kelsey & Chris are such a fun, confident couple.
Kelsey booked me are than a year in advance, back when I was still working my day job at the wallpaper company. We bonded over our names being the same during an after-work phone call.
At our first meeting at Rapscallion Brewery, I knew their wedding was going to be a blast. Kelsey was full of exciting, colorful ideas and was not afraid to think out-of-the-box.
Their wedding was held at the beautiful Gurney's Resort Newport. Not only is it a beautiful resort, it's also on Goat Island and is complete with a tiny goat version of Caesar's Palace.
So majestic. So pure.
Gurney's Newport is a beautiful resort. It was a perfect place for a wedding with the ceremony and reception venue in one place, and a stunning overlook with the Claiborne Pell Bridge and a quaint lighthouse in the background.
I got the spend the early afternoon hanging out with Kelsey and all of her bridesmaids while they got their hair and makeup done. They were all so sweet and I absolutely loved watching their faces light up when Kelsey put on her dress.
Kelsey's friend Atulya (pictured left) had the best reactions to the wedding all day long.
She was radiating happiness and love for Kelsey and Chris and it was so sweet.
These ladies were Kelsey's support system while the guys were hanging out at a bar in downtown Newport, because while it took the girls nine hours to get ready, the guys were dressed and ready to go in about one.
Kelsey's Maid of Honor Caitlyn did a quick booger check before everyone headed out to the ceremony. That's the sign of true friendship.
Meanwhile, in the guy's room, ties were being thrown on, shoes were being jointly tied, and shots were being taken out of coffee mugs.
At 5:30, the ceremony began.
Kelsey & Chris' friend was their officiant, making for a personal and lighthearted ceremony.
This was one of my favorite moments of the walk down the aisle. Everyone had been giving groomsmen Garner grief about his beard all day.
As he walked down the aisle, he and Chris shared a beard appreciation moment.
Both of Kelsey's parents walked her down the aisle, which I think is such a sweet way to do it.
As soon as Kelsey and Chris met each other at the end of the aisle, you could see their nerves dissipate. They were so comfortable with one another and were clearly so happy to be entering the rest of their lives together.
They chose to do a series of personalized questions for their vows like, "Do you promise to get me a snack every time you go the the kitchen to get one for yourself?" and , "Do you promise to love me no matter how weird I get?"
It was sweet and hilarious and perfect for them.
Kelsey's dad was beaming with pride the entire ceremony.
Chris started to put the ring on Kelsey's middle finger and was swiftly corrected by Kelsey with a round of giggles.
And then they were married! Woo Hoo!!!
Cocktail hour was bathed in the most beautiful golden hour light.
Kelsey and Chris' wedding party did not disappoint on their entrances. They each had a funny and unique take on the announcements.
Their first dance was to the classic Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton.
After the first dance, a series of hilarious and heartfelt toasts began from 5 of Kelsey and Chris' friends and family.
The whole room was cracking up and Kelsey and Chris were crying tears of laugher and a few tears of joy from some of the more serious moments.
After speeches, Kelsey took the the dance floor for two dances, one with her mom and one with her dad.
To quote Kelsey, her mom chose "The saddest song ever" in Martina McBride's In My Daughter's Eyes.
For her dance with here dad, she decided to lighten the mood a little bit and went with Tom Petty's American Girl.
How adorable is Kelsey's dad???
After the formalities were done, we went outside for some quick portraits at the tail end of sunset.
A little later in the evening, we did some energetic wedding party photos back outside, with the bridge lights in the background.
I asked the groomsmen to jump for this photo, not realizing one of them had a broken ankle.
Kelsey and her Maid and Matron of Honor, Erin and Caitlyn, specifically requested some funny face photos, which I was more than happy to oblige.
Get a bridal party who can do both 😂
Back inside, the dance floor opened up, with nearly everyone joining in.
Foam light sticks were passed around and people had a blast waving them around, having sword fights, and sticking about half of them in Kelsey's dress.
The night ended with one last slow dance.
Thank you to Kelsey & Chris for choosing me as your wedding photographer! You and your friends and family were so much fun to photograph!
