I had the very special experience of photographing my cousin Kenzie's wedding this month!
It was such an awesome day and I can't wait to share it all with you.
To start, here is the best first look I've ever seen:
Kenzie didn't tell me she was surprising Nick with a dinosaur mask until about half an hour before we all met at my uncle's house to take pictures on his porch.
It was a rainy day, so we needed some coverage.
I could not have loved their first look more. Kenzie is hilarious and silly and Nick always puts up a stink, but secretly he loves it.
This was Allie guarding the door to where Kenzie was hiding so that Nick wouldn't see her as the boutonnières were pinned on.
My aunt Kimmy and her three daughters. They're all beautiful people inside and out!
We did most of the group portraits on the porch, including one of my new all-time favorite photos of all the bridesmaids and flower girls throwing confetti.
Kenzie had so many fun creative ideas and I loved being able to make them happen!
We had to take photos with Nick & Kenzie's basset hound, Delilah. She has the best ears in the state for sure. Also, can you see the slobber flying in the photo above?
From there, it was time to head to The Colonial Hotel for the ceremony and reception!
Kenzie's dad Tony passed away from ALS a few years ago, so Kimmy walked her down the aisle. Tony was there in spirit and was incorporated throughout the day. My aunt Susie had sewn an embroidered piece of one of his shirts onto the lining of Kenzie's dress.
Nick made Kenzie's wedding ring from a 1952 quarter, the year Tony was born.
At the other end of the aisle, Nick was just beaming. This is why I love weddings. These moments just melt my heart.
Also, my uncle Artie officiated the ceremony. There was family in every part of this wedding!
This was the moment when everyone started crying because the ceremony was so sweet.
Nick and Kenzie had hilarious vows and the whole room was cracking up.
There was one surprise left before the ceremony ended. Kenzie's sister Bridget is the only good singer in our family. She is amazing and no one knows how it happened because the rest of us are tone deaf.
She belted out a flawless rendition of Rachel Platten's Better Place and it was amazing.
My aunt got it on video!
After that, it was time to officially make Kenzie and Nick husband and wife!
After cramming our faces with the Colonial's delicious hors d'oeuvres (I'm still thinking about the coconut shrimp) we headed outside for a few more portraits.
The sun was setting just over the top of the hotel, creating the perfect glowy backlight.
This was one of my favorite things that Kenzie included. The framed photos of their parent's weddings were such a sweet touch.
Then it was time to go inside for the reception!
Kenzie and Nick danced to Crazy Beautiful by Luke Combs.
Then the party began!
The raptor head made it's way around the dance floor.
At the end of the night, I handed the camera off the my brother and I even got in on the action!
The night ended in a circle of love. The perfect ending to a perfect day!
I'm so glad I was able to be a part of Kenzie and Nick's big day. It was such a wonderful experience and I loved being along for the ride from start to finish.
