So, my one year anniversary of being a full-time photographer was August 18th. I completely forgot about it because that was also the day of Julie & Ken's wedding, so I was preoccupied with more important things.
This past year has been one of the best years of my life and one of the most emotional. That's the thing that no one tells you about being self employed, it can wreak havoc on your mental state.
My happiness is very much connected to how my business is doing. In the winter when things were slow, I didn't know what to do with myself. I felt lost and insecure.
But, when things are good, they're amazing.
And being bummed out about slow times is still better than sitting in a windowless office doing work I wasn't passionate about.
I've worked with so many amazing people this year and I am so thankful for every single person that has supported this dream.
My clients have all been so sweet and just lovely to work with. Thank you to everyone who has chosen me to capture a special time in their lives. I love being able come along for the ride to preserve those moments.
I've also been able to surround myself with an amazing set of supportive entrepreneurs.
I joined the Rising Tide TuesdaysTogether Boston West group before I left my day job last year. It's part networking, part education, and all about community over competition.
It was a huge part of what gave me the confidence to take the leap. Seeing how many amazing women were doing exactly what I wanted to was a huge inspiration.
I loved it so much that a few months ago, I started TuesdaysTogether Pioneer Valley.
If you're a creative entrepreneur I highly recommend joining your local group! It is such an amazing educational, social, and emotional resource.
The Pioneer Valley group meets up the second Tuesday of every month and the Boston West group meets the third Tuesday.
I would love if you joined! You can get all of the information on meetings and find support and ask questions in the Facebook groups:

Finding a support system has been one of the best things I've done this year. I need to give a special thank you to fellow lady boss besties Natalie of NAC Photography and Monika of Monika Normand Photography.
We only connected recently, but my life is already so much better with them in it. Whether I have a question, need to vent, or just want to send a funny meme, they are there for it all.
All in all, I just wanted to say thank you for everyone who has made this past year one of the best of my life.
You guys rock!
